On 2nd of March, 2019 - together with Russian sportsman Vladimir Voloshin - we were part of 125 runners (from 24 countries) running a marathon on the Baikal Lake, Siberia, Russia. The Baikal Ice Marathon is both psychologically and physically demanding. The utterly featureless landscape gives little or no sense of perspective to competitors, offering us nothing to focus on but how far we are from our goal. It is a very long, very cold, lonely 42.2 km trail across the barren white landscape, where progress is marked only by checkpoints positioned at 5 km intervals. A very technical marathon, considered as one of the most difficult in the world. A very special challenge. Unforgettable ;-)
